On several occasions I have visited and spoken with the patients of the Transition Programme at Sydney Children's Hospital.
I attended the Allied Health Unit and conducted two sessions, one with
the patients, and another with their parents.
The patients had just completed an eight week partial hospitalisation program focusing on recovery from eating disorders.
The program covered healthy lifestyle, art therapy, social eating and exploring motivation to recover and building skills.
Having viewed a module of the program, it is clear to me how much the content mirrors my own beliefs about how
challenging and adapting thought patterns can aid in a successful recovery.
During the session, I was impressed by the motivation of the group towards
recovery. We discussed at length what is important to the group to help inspire them towards recovery and living a happy
and fulfilling life.
The feedback I have received in the past has been very positive:
The girls really enjoyed your talk and the opportunity to ask questions ... you gave them hope that recovery from anorexia was something
they could achieve. Feedback from the parents was also positive.
My passion for sharing my own life experiences to help and inspire others comes from my wish to spread love and healing, and make a
difference in the world.
